Note: This blog post will be a little dramatic and a bit weird, however informative. May you continue reading until the end. 🙂

Like most hikers, it is my dream to witness sea of clouds every time I go for a hike.

I already went to Montalban twice. The first one was to hike Mt. Pamitinan and the second one was to hike Mt. Hapunang Banoi but my friends insisted to do twin hike, so I hiked Mt. Pamitinan again. I have no regrets because it was really fun hiking with my friends.

For the third time I came back with another friend, my disciple, this time to reach the summit of Mt. Binacayan and to witness what they call “sea of clouds”.

Mt. Binacayan “sea of clouds”.

And we did see the amazing and jaw-dropping sea of clouds. Although I have seen some already when we hiked at Maysawa Circuit – Mt. Sa Pari and Mt. Binutasan, this one is totally wow.

If you want to reach the wonderful sea of clouds too.

Here are some instructions that you can follow.

  • Start traveling 2:30am from the jeep terminal going to Montalban. (nearby Mcdo Marcos Hi-Way)
  • Get off the jeepney in San Rafael (landmark is 7/11)
  • Take a tricycle going to Barangay Wawa, the jump off.
  • You should be at the jump off at 4:00am, just to be certain.
  • Do not forget to register at the Barangay.
  • Start and enjoy hiking at 4:30am

If you want to be safe and secure.

Here are some things that you should prepare.

  • Gloves (The ones that the construction workers use. There are gloves at the jump off but maybe it will be cheaper if you buy in the market. This is a must because the rocks are sharp. )
  • 2 liters of water
  • Trail Food
  • First Aid Kit
  • Head Gear
  • Proper  Hiking Shoes

Side note: You can change clothes and gear at the jump off. Find comfort room.  Hahaha! Not at the jump off literally.

I have mentioned about the things that you need to prepare before starting to hike because sometimes even though the mountain is a beginner hike we still need to be ready. Do not ever belittle a mountain.

It is a good thing that I came prepared.
Allow me to share a little story.

I bought my shoes last year for Mt. Daraitan hike. I was pretty satisfied with its performance because as I recall, my friends slipped a lot of times and I did not  and because we are friends we just laughed at them and  waited for the next one to slip, , thanks to my beloved shoes.

To cut the long story short.

I had pretty good times with my beloved shoes. I have used it with my previous hikes, it saved me from slips and wounds that I might get, however my hike here in Mt. Binacayan ended it. I thought “forever” with me and her are real, I meant my shoes. My beloved shoes died in Mt. Binacayan, Montalban, Rizal.  I am sure some of you guys can relate and sympathize.

Fortunately, I got slippers with me. So from the summit to the jump off I only wore slippers. It was really hard because it was muddy, slippery, and the rocks are very sharp but I survived.

What I have learned was that even though my shoes got broken I still need to go on and think of some ideas to solve it.

All in all it was a very fulfilling hike and I would say I highly recommend. The views are stunning.

Here are some of the photos taken.

Is there any information that I missed? Comment down below your question and I will do my best to answer it.
